My goal for March is to challenge you to raise the bar on how you engage with your prospects and existing customers. What better way to jump in than by gathering information from my trusted tribe on the topic.
I am always keeping my eyes open to those who are achieving success by doing special, interesting, and innovative things in business so that I can not only test the best in my own, but also share my discoveries with you. So last week I began my search was focused on email newsletters that have caught your eye and have motivated you to change the way you’ve been trying to draw people toward your business, and asked –
Who is your top pick for a business owner with a rocking email newsletter that keeps you engaged with every issue?
The responses provide a wide range of examples of both paid and free email newsletters, each chosen for specific reasons that were meaningful to our experts. I am honored to have made the list too! (Thanks, Monique!) As you read through the comments, think about ways you can improve customer engagement with your newsletter. The truth is that most newsletters wind up in the electronic trash bin, never read, unless you give your subscribers a reason each week to open them. If you have a great example, please share it in the comments below. Enjoy!

1. Exclusive ConceptsI look forward to their short and sweet daily emails that shares valuable advise on improving my online store. Love the fact that they have a video and text option. When multitasking, I listen to the video. When in a quiet place, I read the text. To find out more visit http://www.exclusiveconcepts.com/ Thanks to Bola Ajumobi of Slimy Bookworm |

2. Short And ON TARGET!Life is busy! Emails are stacked up and no one has time to read every pitch. BUT, you can grab me quickly with a short and sweet (on target) message that hits me just where I am thinking. I tell my clients that the best way to do this is to respond to a current customer issue. Write your newsletter or blog with a customer in mind. Most likely if one of your customers have an issue it is something others are dealing with. To be current FOCUS on your customers–they know what issues are important to them NOW. A great example is Bates Communications. Suzanne is a great friend, but I read them because Suzanne provides insightful information, without going on too long, about communications something all my clients need. 8. The Betabrand Email Newsletter Is The BestOne of the newsletters that I can barely wait to receive comes from Betabrand, a clothing creator with a flair for the dramatic. Every newsletter has a story behind it, fantastic photography and a call to action that I can’t help but click. I almost never buy clothes online, let alone read emails about clothing, but Betabrand has me hooked! I want to know what wacky story they’re going to share about their clothing lines next — sideways corduroy, a run in with a disco ball, or something else entirely! You can sign up for email alerts here http://www.betabrand.com/ Thanks to Thursday Bram of Hyper Modern Consulting |

10. In Yo’ Face (every Day)!My favorite, absolute favorite, email newsletter is from copywriter Ben Settle. His newsletter, unlike most, offers a truly engaging appeal that makes you feel like he had a ball just writing it. AND it’s DAILY! That’s right, daily. What’s in it? A simple streamlined format of well written, authentic, actionable information on email marketing for businesses. He tells relatable copywriting and email stories, offers words of encouragement and never ceases to ask for the sale, but I just don’t care. I’ll read it any day of the week (and I do!). It’s truly a newsletter every entrepreneur should take note of. To find out more go to http://bensettle.com/ Thanks to Mys Palmer of Building Authentic Brand Voice & Personality |

11. Marie Forleo Rocks Email MarketingMarie Forleo’s email newsletters are great because she uses video to provide answers to subscriber questions. The videos are engaging and funny, but also very useful. At the end of every video, Marie encourages viewers to leave a comment (which many do!). She also uses great subject lines that encourage you to open the email e.g. “Does this gal suck at marketing?” and “I confess, I had some work done.” To join Marie’s newsletter click here http://marieforleo.com Thanks to Suellen Hughes of The Kickstart Business |

12. Dr. Shannon Reece Rocks!Of all the newsletters that I receive every week, the one that I enjoy most is that of Dr. Shannon Reece. I love the look – it is simple and elegant with wonderful colors for the mast head and the web articles that are accessed by click-through links. But I love the content even more! Shannon’s message always resounds with authenticity and integrity. She is strong and wise, yet humbled by her own journey toward entrepreneurial success and willing to share her challenges to help her readers grow their businesses. She has a tremendous sense of the importance of cooperation and has channeled the expertise of her incredible network into her newsletter to provide us with both knowledge and inspiration. She pulls no punches, but always writes with empathy. In short, she rocks! (Thanks Dr. Monique! I am honored!!)
