Top 10 Strategies Super-Women Use to Stay Super-Fueled

“It’s easy to feel overloaded when you are trying to do it all. Super-Women approach life with an attitude and plan that enables them to achieve balance around the things they value most, while still taking care of themselves.”

“Excellent e-Book!  I wished I would have read this sooner.  My schedule is so hectic that I did not have time to read it when I first downloaded, but if I would have made that 15 minutes I would have had a different perspective on asking for help. LOL

I am one of those people who believes in “if you want it done right, do it yourself”.  When I ask people for help, I want to be able to put my trust in them and know that it will get done correctly.  When I do this, something always goes wrong.  So you can see my dilemma as an event planner….talk about micro-managing.  I love the fact that you have worksheets or action plans in each chapter.  I did take my “mental break” today, but instead of closing my eyes and going to my happy place, I read your book and what a well-deserved break to read something that will help me tackle the world with a different perspective.

Thank you for the resource — I loved it!” – M.S.

You don’t have to feel like you are constantly running on empty.

    Hi Dr. Shannon,

    Hi!
I have run my 2 companies in a vacuum, isolated, for over 20 years, busy raising my 3 girls. Today they are a lawyer, an architect and a journalist and I find that I can step out and open myself to what others are doing and in turn offer what I have experienced in the process. I welcome the forum you have created. Thank you

I’m just setting up a content strategy agency/consultancy based in London, specialising in community and membership digital content. After a career in corporate and small businesses, I’m realising a life-long dream of working for myself and trying to create something both family-friendly and inspiring to myself and others. I’m trying to surround myself with support, both face to face and virtual, to keep myself positive during the hard patches, and to keep myself thinking big. On a good day I know I can conquer the world; on a bad day, I struggle to keep up with the laundry! I’m looking forward to taking part in this community.

    Hi Shannon,

It’s me again SMILE. I’m looking at keeping the SPARK ALIVE. I’ve been in business for 10 years now running a Promotional Marketing company and I want to keep the passion alive. Although I’m positive, resilient and love my profession, the truth is sometimes reality kicks us in the butt and self doubt kicks in. Add in a bit of setbacks and business madness and some days you question whether you can or want to continue. It’s always great to get a dose of inspiration, especially from SMART WOMEN.

Entrepreneurship is really challenging, so it’s important to surround yourself with women and men who inspire and motivate you do think bigger and reach higher than you thought you could. 🙂 Shannon

So true. I had become so reclusive and sulking in my own self pitty that I forgot to surround myself around like minded women.

          Hi Falisha,

As an entrepreneur, one of my biggest challenges is lonliness! Most of us have spawned our new paths on the backs of a busy, people-centered job of some sort. Being your own boss totally rocks, but we all must find ways to keep the pulse lively.

One way I have tried to combat this is to start a ‘business incubator’ where I and other entrepreneurs can climb out of our basements and home offices and re-join the fun of comradeship. We hang together in offices housed in an old wollen mill in our hometown. This offers ways to collaborate and brain storm for effective – and fun – ways of doing business. Linda Pond

          • Posted December 12, 2011 at 9:06 am | Permalink

Linda, Thank you for sharing news about the business incubator you’re a part of. I love it! I agree that being in the company of other driven professionals is essential to overcoming the lonliness of solopreneurship. Just choose wisely those with whom you share your time. 🙂 Shannon

Hi Falisha. I so get what you just said. Just when we get the urge to quit, we remember that quote describing how most entrepreneurs who do quit, were inches away from their goals.

Hi Jen, (remaining positive, strong & confident). You said this very well. It takes all these things, in double doses, when you are a small business owner; even more so six months or a year later. As someone who has started up two business, I would like to add….FAITH. Faith in yourself and in your plan

I had neither one the first business. I’m now ten years into my second business and have had to call on one and sometimes ALL of the above. But I still here and…..getting better all the time!

Good luck to you and everyone else who owns their own business.

Jen, So happy to meet you! Thanks for joining my e-newsletter and for sharing your comment. 🙂 It does take time to gain traction when starting a business. There is no way around that. But very glad to read that you are making your attitude a priority, although it can be a big challenge to maintain. When you take the time to commit to HOW you want to walk through your day first thing in the morning, and maintain that attitude and outlook no matter what life throws your way, you will find that achieving your goals becomes much easier. Focus your attention and energy to the things over which you have direct control. The rest doesn’t matter when it comes to your success. If you need targeted assistance, be sure to check out my new On Target Laser Coaching programs at http://drshannonreece.com/ontarget.php I also invite you to join our Advisory of Women Entrepreneurs so I may get to know you better. 🙂 Shannon

    Hello Shannon,
I found you through HARO, and have become a contributor. Thank you. I am a Realtor in Virginia who specializes in divorce (a RARE specialty!). I think of myself in a collaborative sense in that I am not just interested in selling people’s homes; but also offering them ways to survive divorce and thrive afterward. My 2 divorces and the years I spent afterward learning how to prevent a THIRD divorce (<: have a lot of value, I think.
And it worked. I'm now married to the best friend I ever thought possible.
I have passed on several of your comments to clients, co-workers, etc.

Throughout my career I have always been at the right place at the right time. I even had my own home-based admin business for 16 years!

My husband will be taking early retirement at the end of this month and with a possible future move, out of New Jersey to another region of the country, I am a bit apprehensive at finding an admin job at all in this economy.

I am looking forward to reading your e-Book for a positive attitude adjustment.

Chris, Nice to meet you! So happy to know that you found me through LinkedIn. 🙂 Please let me know what you think about the ebook. Regarding your possible move, based on the fact that you have run a home-based admin business for over a decade, why not begin the transition of taking it on the road? If this has been more of a locally based business, there are ways to transition it to an online enterprise that is not location specific. There are so many great online tools to make this fairly simple, and I would encourage you to begin gathering testimonials from those with whom you have worked for years. If I you are interested in making a transition, I’d be happy to assist you in developing your plan of attack and see you through it. Shannon

    Shannon,

Think its great what you are doing. Too many woman feel entrapped by a male dominated world, I worked in it for 30 years before venturing off into my own business. The clients I work with in business often limit themselves because of this accepted thinking. It affects women especially but many men too.

    • Posted March 31, 2011 at 6:43 pm | Permalink | Reply

Hi Alan! You are correct. Just because you think one way, due to what you were told, doesn’t make it right for you. We all need to be independent thinkers, and decide our own paths in this life. Trying to live by someone else’s design is a very unfulfilling path.

    Hi Shannon,

I also found you through the wonderful facebook page Womanzworld have just been through your videos and feeling a little better about myself.

I am turning 40 this year am married with two small children boy 4yrs old and girl 6yrs. I live on a small farm in Busselton Western australia. This is where I found my passion of nature photography and two years ago I decided to take the plunge and register as a business Rainbow Farm Photography and besides a few sales that is where i have stayed .. low self worth and fear along with little funds keep me down I know I can take beautiful photos I get up every morning to take the sunrise for everyone to enjoy. BUT (whoops) selling is not my forte. no clear direction is another problem … hmm .. I think you get the idea .. loving your personal touch and replys .. look forward to travelling this journey together.

Coralie, I am so happy to know that you found me through the amazing, and talented Natalie Sission. 🙂 I am glad that the videos have been helpful to you. Congrats on taking the plunge to start your own business! Now that’s what I call following your passion and making it a strong part of your life. Yes, starting out on a new adventure can be scary. I know, because I have been in your shoes. Just remember that if you don’t have the courage to believe in yourself, then who will?

Think about how sharing your gifts with the world will enhance people’s lives. Think about how showing your young children how strong and dedicated you are will be setting an amazing role model for them. Think about your gifts, and your dreams for your business — write them down, post them where you can see them every day, and embrace them. Living courageously means being able to tell the story of you with your whole heart, and you’ve got that power within you!

Take the time today to decide exactly what you want to achieve in the next 12 months, essentially, how much money do you with to earn (make it challenging but realistically achievable), and then figure out the 12 monthly action steps you will need to get you to that mark. Hi Shannon (or should I say Dr Reece?),

I found you today via a tweet from WomanzWorld and I’m pleased I did! After 20 years in a successful, global corporate career, I quit and started my own business. I now mentor smart, motivated women (& brave men) who are fed up with the daily grind of corporate life and want to start their own business, making a lifestyle change that puts them back in control.

What I hope to get out of your ebook is some great tips I can share with my clients – many of whom are running on empty when they first join me! Thanks for the great resource and community. Looking forward to joining in.

Hi Suellen! I am so happy to meet you and am thrilled to know that you heard about me from the fabulous Natalie Sisson. 🙂 Bravo to you for your bravery to break out on your own and get women (and men) on the track to success! My ebook definitely has some strategies to prevent women from reaching the point of complete drain, and I hope you will let me know what you think after reading it.

Another great resource is my Free video series that you can access by visiting – http://refresh-her.com – for a limited time. I created this series to celebrate the launch of my signature program, The Refresh-Her Challenge. So feel free to check it out! I look forward to getting to know you better.

Shannon, I am somewhat of a serial careerist, having started my work life as an advertising copywriter 30 years ago. I detoured creatively/professionally into the foodservice business (prep cook, sous chef for catering firm ’86-88, then restaurant management for national casual chain ’88-95); became a professional organizer for home/office while operating a custom gift business (’96-’02 organizer, closed gift biz Jan. ’09). Meanwhile I”d starting freelancing as a writer on the side in about 2005 and relaunched my full-time writing career in Jan. ’09. Today I write promotional copy for advertising, marketing and public relations, for agencies (diverse accounts) as well as my private clients who are owners of small businesses or solopreneurs. It’s never boring!
