Today, we continue our guest post series with circus ring mistress herself, JP Jones. She continues with her solid strategies of managing the circus, also known as your business, with a focus today on your email inbox. If you missed Part one, be sure to read it before continuing with Part Two. Thanks JP!

Hopefully you caught last week’s post, The Entrepreneur, The Juggler & The Circus Clown (Part 1), if you didn’t take a moment to get caught up before finishing this post!
As we mentioned last week, being an entrepreneur can easily be confused with working in a circus. If as a child you ever threatened to “run off and join the circus” you have hope of becoming one of our most influential entrepreneurs today!
Entrepreneurs are often known for their juggling abilities and last week we explored some tips for project management. This week, we’re going to get a little more specific in terms of managing emails. Continue reading →

Last week I shared Part One of this 3-part short story about the difference that one person can make in the life of another. Today, we continue this story and discover a few more questions before this stranger’s purpose is finally revealed. Enjoy!

And I said, “Thank you…” with a Smile (Part 2)
I assumed he was your typical homeless person and hoped he had a shelter to go to this evening for a warm meal and blanket. “Maybe I should offer him a few bucks,” I thought, “but he might just go use it on booze.” Again something pinged inside my heart as I listened to the judgmental thoughts that were running around my head.
Shrugging it off, still pretty sure I had pegged this man, I confidently asked, “So you got a place to stay tonight? I can recommend a shelter a couple blocks from here.”
The man just smiled. “Thank you for your concern, but I am not homeless,” he answered quietly. And he didn’t say more. Continue reading →

We all have dreams of the future — big visions of where we want to be in life and business. And as we approach the start of a brand new year, it’s fun to think about our dreams, and the Christmas wishes we hope will come true.
My Christmas wish is fairly simple — I have been a solo entrepreneur for the past three years, and am now running two businesses the best I can with the time I have each day. Since I am unable to clone myself, the next best thing for me will be to bring in some amazingly talented (unpaid) interns. So my wish is for the blessing of a few fabulous, go-getters, who are a good match for my businesses. That will allow me to keep growing, and bringing my clients even more of what they need.
As you can see, I have made my wish, but wanted to know yours. So last week I asked –
If you could make just one business Christmas wish this year, what would you wish for?
I asked, and you responded – thank you! No wish is too big, or too small. Wishing, especially as Christmas, is about Continue reading →

- What are some specific strategies that women, who feel they are being held back, can begin using today to break free from obstacles?
- And, what is one simple exercise women can do to begin to “discover her truth” and help them easily begin to move their lives in the direction they really want it to go?

Surviving entrepreneurship can at times feel like a 3-ring circus. Here to offer valuable insights on managing the ups, downs, and sideways turns of it all is guest expert, JP Jones, who will be sharing her survival strategies with us over the next 4 weeks. Thanks JP!

If you’re a business owner, most likely there have been days when you were ready to grab your big shoes, a colorful wig, a red nose and go running off to the funny farm. Deadlines, clients, commitments, time constraints . . . sound familiar?
Running a business often feels like an extended act in a Ringling Bros. Circus—the big question is which circus act are you?
If you’re like me, most of the time you feel like the juggler—a million balls in the air and running out of breath to catch them all and throw them again. Your clients (or customers), on the other hand, might remind you more of the circus clowns (don’t tell mine I said that!).
While I could tell you it gets easier, I think that strong entrepreneurs really simply learn to thrive in that environment. Throughout this series of articles over the next four weeks we are going to explore four dilemmas every entrepreneur has in their business circus—and how to over come them. Continue reading →

This week has been all about inspiring change, making a difference, and being the person you were born to be through your work. In honor of this theme, I am going to take the next three Tuesdays to share with you a short story I wrote a couple of years back. As we go along, I look forward to your comments as you await the ending of this three-part series. Enjoy!

And I said, “Thank you…” with a smile (Part One)
It had been a very long day at the office, one I would just as soon forget. I knew times were tough, but I wasn’t expecting to lose my job. The reality that I would be facing the unemployment ranks in the morning was still sinking in.
“Why,” I wondered, “does life have to be so unfair sometimes?”
The bitter wind took my breath away as I headed for my car. A bout of wet snow the past several days had caked my car in a combination of dried muck and road salt. “I’ll get it washed this weekend,” I thought, “but right now I just want to get home.”
As I hurried across the parking lot in the growing darkness, avoiding the occasional patch of ice, I noticed a figure in the distance who seemed to be crouched over the hood of my car. Continue reading →

‘Tis the Season to give, and that is no exception when it comes to business. But true giving is more than just providing Black Friday deals and special offers to draw customers during the last hurrah of the 4th quarter. Many businesses are taking time out to focus on those in need.
At Reece International, our goal is to provide job training for women in need through World Vision’s Help Women and Girls program. A portion of the proceeds from my coaching sales this month are being given to World Vision with a goal of providing job training for 20 women in need through my 12 Days of Experts Project.
The great news is that we are 25% of the way to our goal thanks to the generous donations from Dr. Monique Y. Wells and Randy Morrow!! Thank you so much for your generosity for women in need!
And our project is just the tip of the iceberg this Christmas, so last week I asked –
If you are a business caught up in the spirit of Christmas giving too, please share your story and tell me – How is your business giving back to those in need this Christmas?
You will be blown away by the wonderful ways 38 businesses are celebrating the spirit of the season by giving their time, resources, and platforms to support those who are less fortunate. Continue reading →
