21 Ways Women Can Be Assertive in Business

For women in business, there still seems to be a fine line between asserting oneself and coming across unfavorably, and perhaps being referred to as something that rhymes with “witch.” Women work hard to compete in their given arenas with excellence, and are at times disparaged for playing tough.

Rather than backing down from what we deserve as much as the “next guy” I wanted to hear from those of you who’ve had experience with this challenge, on both sides of the table, and asked –

What is your single best tip on how women entrepreneurs can stand tall in business and earn the respect they deserve?

I was thrilled to receive solid strategies from both men and women on this topic, and found the submissions to be encouraging, thoughtful, and right on target. There’s nothing wrong with being confident about one’s ability — and I encourage women to showcase their natural gifts, rather than Continue reading

Bringing Your Best Self to Work

As a Peak Performance Specialist, I understand the importance of teaching women how to bring their “A” game day after day to business. So within our theme of starting the New Year strong, I invited guest expert, Maureen Daniek to share her five powerful strategies for how you can bring your best self to work. Thanks Maureen!

***************************************

5 Key Ingredients

Which “self” did you bring to work today? Was it “Dopey”, “Sneezy”,  “Sleepy”, “Doc”, “Grumpy” or “Happy”? Building a rewarding business or career requires showing up each day with your “best” and that requires personal practices and skills that are honed and integrated into your life 24/7.

The #1 ingredient is “self-care.”

“Sneezy” and “Sleepy” won’t sustain you for the long haul. Paying attention to diet (notice the afternoon drag that comes with junk food) is essential, as is getting enough sleep, and staying healthy and well.

Chart your food intake for a week, noting the times you eat and track your corresponding energy levels. Observe and learn what you body needs and wants. Caffeine, alcohol, and sugar may be putting you on a roller coaster ride! Continue reading

16 Powerful Business Mantras for 2012

If you took part in the 12 Days of Experts that I offered in December, then you probably were fortunate enough to watch the video interview I did with Natalie MacNeil, Founder of SheTakesontheWorld.net, among other things. Natalie spoke of the power of using mantras in her business, and I was intrigued. I am known for encouraging entrepreneurs to use Post-It notes as reminders of personal and business affirmations, but haven’t personally used mantras. That is changing for 2012.

One of my new mantras is – “I am being flooded by a steady flow of ideal clients, whose businesses are being powerfully transformed to rapidly reach their biggest goals without sacrificing themselves in the process.” I wanted to know yours for the New Year too, and asked –

What is your mantra statement that is leading you to a bigger and bolder business presence and action in 2012?

Our lovely contributors shared some powerful statements that they will be using to launch boldly into the New Year. Continue reading
